Nine Elements of an organized office
I need to be organized, I do not function right if I am not organized. However, my husband is not! SO…after many hours of cleaning hubby’s clutter, found myself prescribing what I would call my nine elements of an organized office!
1. Bookshelves: These are necessary! They are a great place for your design books, creative book ends, and more! I like stacking some of my books horizontally to create open space on the shelves. Be careful, too many books on a shelf ends up creating clutter!

2. Pencil holders: Doesn’t matter what size or shape you choose, these holders organize your pens, pencils, highlighters and sharpees.
3. Filing system: No budget for a filing cabinet? Try REAL SIMPLE office supplies, their file box doubles as a file storage with style!
4. Inspiration board: Need a place to display your inspiration? Whether it is pictures, magazine pages or fabric samples, the inspiration board is the perfect place for them all!
5. Boxes: Don’t have drawers? Grab some boxes for all of your loose items, they are great at hiding the clutter. Another great tip, if you can’t find some cool looking boxes, use baskets. They serve the same purpose and again look great while doubling as the perfect storage for clutter.
6. Magazine file: They keep the clutter nice and neat! You can store, paper for the printer, odd sized note books, magazines, folders and other office supplies in creatively designed magazine files. Choose complementary colors to match your office color scheme!
7. Binder clips. These have a dual purpose. I use cool looking binder clips to hang ideas-n-things from my inspiration board AND to keep the clutter all together!
8. Light: natural light is one of the best elements to a great office. Find a nice big window and set up shop!
9. Pretty accents: They inspire a smile.
